Tai Chi Training
Our Tai Chi classes offer a slower, meditative practice that cultivates balance, relaxation, and steady strength from the inside out. Through mindful movement, strength‑building postures, and breathing, you’ll calm the nervous system, improve mobility and posture, and deepen the connection between body, mind, and breath.
We offer variety with “Wu Dang Yang” and “Chen” styles, plus Qi Gong sets for health and longevity. We include weapons forms for sword and fan, and classes that explore Tai Chi’s martial roots for self-defense.
Every class is led by a Certified Black Belt Instructor, so no matter your goals or fitness level, our Tai Chi program has a place for you.
The Origins of Tai Chi
China has over 300 known martial arts styles today, divided into two main systems: external and internal.
Internal styles like Tai Chi, Xing-Yi, and Bagua focus on breathing and stability, with fewer jumps and kicks.
External styles such as Northern Shaolin Long Fist, Hung Gar, and Wing Chun combine breathing with power, speed, strong strikes, and kicks. Both systems cultivate and use Qi (chi).
There are many Tai Chi families, but the five most common are Yang, Chen, Wu, Sun, and Woo, all tracing back to the original Chen family style.
Legend says a Taoist priest from Wu Dang Mountains created Tai Chi after watching a white crane fight a snake, mimicking their movements to form this unique art.
Originally a fighting style emphasizing balance, strength, speed, and flexibility, Tai Chi has evolved into the soft, slow, gentle exercise we know today, suitable for anyone from children to adults aged 3 to 103.
